WELCOME!

My website consists of work from the past four years. It has been a long journey strewn with many battles to get here however, this journey is far from over. I still hold onto the same goals I had leaving college: Keeping it simple by having a career where I can draw and paint!

At the beginning of 2007 I began teaching at Art Institute of California - Inland Empire. In Summer 2007 I began a new position at AICA-IE as the Academic Department Director of Foundations and I continue to teach classes in Rendering, Color Theory and Conceptual Storytelling. It's almost a year since I've taken on this adventure and me and my family have fully embraced this new and unexpected mantle.

Teaching has been quite fulfilling for me. One of the things that I really enjoy about it is the mentoring relationship I have with some of the students. I have great opportunities to partner with students in their journey as an artist. I believe it is important that they know instructors are also artists on their own journey. Now this new position as an Academic Director will facilitate more mentoring relationships.

Drawing the figure is one of the purest forms of expression as a visual artist. Imagine for a moment creating an interpretation of man, the image of man or the spirit of man on paper or canvas. In many ways this can be such a beautiful way an artist communes with his spirit. Some of my students get it, nevertheless I continue to express this approach to the figure and it compels me to live by example.

I occasionally do freelance illustration and conceptual design however, the majority of my current studio work has consisted of commission work for NewSong Church, our home church.
